History

Delivered to No 101 Squadron at RAF Finningley in April 1959, 506 was converted to B1A Standard and saw service with No 617 Squadron at RAF Scampton. When 617 Squadron reequipped with B2 Blue Steels in 1961, its B1s and B1As were allocated to No 50 Squadron, then forming at RAF Waddington. Merged into the Waddington Wing, 506 served with the three resident squadrons - 44(R), 50 and 101 until it was withdrawn from service in January 1968.[1]

Sent to Waddington after being withdrawn, it was finally scrapped in November 1968. [2]
